The 2011-12 City Flex Recital Series announced by the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society features world class performers at community venues at affordable prices.

PHILADELPHIA, PA, July 08, 2011 /Leisure and Recreation PR News/ -- The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society (PCMS) is pleased to announce it's 2011/2012 City Flex Recital Series featuring exceptional artists at community venues throughout the city. These world-class performers can be enjoyed at affordable prices.

Praised by The Wall Street Journal as "a most mature and sensitive pianist," Chinese-born pianist, Di Wu, continues to build her reputation as an elegant and exciting musician. Her PCMS debut at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Sunday, October 23rd, 2011 at 3pm features French masterpieces by Debussy and Ravel and includes Franz Liszt's keyboard adaptation of the waltz from Gounod's opera Faust.

A cellist with a "superior sense of style" (Strad), Curtis graduate and Avery Fisher Career Grant winner, Sophie Shao, is one of the leading cellists of her generation. Based in New York, where she appears with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Shao returns to the Curtis Institute for her PCMS debut on Sunday, January 8th, 2012 at 3pm. She will team with acclaimed accompanist, Ieva Jokubaviciute, for a recital featuring works by Beethoven, Kirchner, Janacek and Brahms.

Since his triumph at the Naumburg International Piano Competition three decades ago, Philadelphia-born, Cologne-based pianist, Peter Orth, has attracted attention for the virtuosity and artistry of his playing. "For sheer excitement, he is difficult to surpass," says The New York Sun. Orth's homecoming recital at the American Philosophical Society on Friday, January 27th, 2012 at 8pm features a seriously challenging repertoire by Ravel, Stravinsky and Liszt.
